Hi! If you're still a newbie learning about the basics or you just want a good refresher, I suggest reading these posts:

You might wonder what some of the abbreviations that you see in the curly community mean, like CG, KCCC, or EVOO. I'll post a list of them right here that you can refer to whenever you like!

  • EVOO: Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  •  LI: Leave in conditioner 
  •  2a, 2b, 2c, 3a, 3b, 3c, 4a, 4b, or 4c: all curl types. Click here for more info.
  •  Clarify: To remove buildup from the hair
  •  Clumping: Strands of hair joining together to form larger, thicker curls 
  •  Co-wash: Washing with conditioner instead of shampoo
  •  Condish: Conditioner 
  •  SOTC: "Scrunch out the crunch" from gel or other styling products that leave a cast
  •  DT: Deep treatment (moisturizing)
  •  PT: Protein treatment (strenghtening
  •   Plop/Plopping: a method of drying hair that involves wrapping your hair in a towel
  •  Pixie diffuse: a method of diffusing in which you dry sections of a time, scrunching a section up to your head in the diffuser, turning it on, and turning it off before you move to the next section
  •  Scrunch: to cup hair in your hands and bring it upwards, squeezing gently 
  •  Porosity, texture, or curl type: Read this
